Forlong es la contracción de for a long time, es la historia de una ‘G’ olvidada y es el proyecto de Rocío Áspera y Alejandro Narváez… Menudo lío, ¿no?
Pedro Furlong era el dueño del conocido como Pago el Forlón, donde hoy se encuentra buena parte de las once hectáreas de viñedos con los que Rocío y Alejandro producen vino bajo el sello Forlong, que recupera la ‘G’ del apellido original perdido en estas tierras gaditanas.
Petit Forlong 2017 es tan original como esta historia, ya que se trata de un coupage de Syrah (60 %), Merlot (30 %) y Tintilla de Rota (10 %) elaborado en tinajas con uvas maceradas sin prensar, donde fermenta, hace la maloláctica y, después de seis meses, envejece medio año más en barricas de roble.
Como buen coupage de Syrah, su color cereza es tremendamente seductor, y en nariz encontramos fruta roja fresca. Pero Petit Forlong no es un Syrah convencional; es atlántico, salino, fresco, un tanto rebelde, como la ‘G’ huidiza de Pedro Furlong, que ha encontrado en el interesante proyecto de Alejandro y Rocío la manera de volver a casa.

Forlong is the contraction of «for a long time», it’s the story of a forgotten «G» and it’s a project by Rocío Áspera and Alejandro Narváez … What a mess, isn’t it?
Pedro Furlong was the owner of Pago el Forlón, where today are eleven hectares of vineyards uses by Rocío and Alejandro to produce wine under the Forlong brand, which recovers the «G» from the original surname lost in these lands of Cadiz.
Petit Forlong 2017 is as original as this story, as it’s a blend of Syrah (60%), Merlot (30%) and Tintilla de Rota (10%) made with macerated and unpressed grapes in amphoras, where this must ferments, makes the malolactic and, after six months, ages another half year in oak barrels.
As a regular Syrah coupage, its cherry color is highly seductive, and on the nose we find fresh red fruit. But Petit Forlong is not a conventional Syrah. It’s Atlantic, saline, fresh, somehow rebellious … like the eludible «G» from Pedro Furlong, who has found in the interesting project of Alejandro and Rocío the way to return home.
