Gatuno 2017

Te presentamos a Pomelo, el gato que ilustra la etiqueta de este vino. La primera vez que lo probamos (el vino, no el gato), hace ya varios años, compartió mesa con la primera añada de Cal, el Godello calcáreo de Verónica Ortega, y no se quedó atrás. Ahí es nada. Posteriormente nos hemos reencontrado con Pomelo en varias ocasiones, mirando fijamente desde su etiqueta… y a ver quién es el guapo que le dice que no.
La última ocasión fue hace unas semanas, y una vez más nos pareció uno de esos vinos a los que merece la pena volver.
Su aroma es dulce, huele a chocolate, a ciruela, a arándanos y a moras; también a monte bajo. Necesita abrirse para expresarlo todo. En boca hay frutas negras, moras y ciruelas. Pero Gatuno 2017 ofrece una mayor complejidad comparado con otros monovarietales de Garnacha de Gredos. Es mineral, balsámico, y presenta un equilibrado final licoroso, con una acidez difícil de encontrar en otras elaboraciones de esta uva.
Ah, y cada vez que tomas un Gatuno, parte del dinero que has pagado por él se destina a ayudar a Doganzo, una asociación protectora de gatos y perros.

We introduce you to Pomelo, the cat that illustrates the label of this wine. The first time we tasted it (the wine, not the cat), several years ago, it shared a table with the first vintage of Cal, the calcareous Verónica Ortega’s Godello white wine … nothing less. Since then we’ve met again with Pomelo several times, staring from his label … and you can’t help chosing him one more time.
The last occasion was a few weeks ago, and once again it seemed like one of those wines that are worth returning.
Its aroma is sweet, it smells of chocolate, plum, blueberries and blackberries; also to scrubland. It needs to open to express everything. In the palate there are black fruits, blackberries and plums. But Gatuno 2017 offers a greater complexity compared to other Grenache varietals from Sierra de Gredos. It is mineral, balsamic, and presents a balanced liquor end, with an acidity difficult to find in other elaborations of this grape.
