Álvaro Palacios no necesita presentación. Este vitivinicultor riojano es famoso por sus tintos del Bierzo (junto a Ricardo Pérez, su sobrino), Priorat y Rioja. Y es precisamente en esta última región donde elabora el único vino blanco de todo su porfolio; un vino que, de alguna manera, cierra un círculo, ya que nace en Palacios Remondo, en la bodega familiar situada a los pies de la sierra de Yerga que un día le vio marchar y que ahora él dirige… el origen de todo.
Plácet De Valtomelloso 2019 es un monovarietal de Viura procedente del Paraje de Valtomelloso, a una altitud de 550 metros, con un suelo calcáreo, arcilloso ferroso y con cantos rodados. Las uvas se despalillan parcialmente, se estrujan y se prensan, y el mosto fermenta con levadura autóctonas en foudres ovales de madera a baja temperatura, en los que el vino descansa durante 12 meses.
De un color amarillo pajizo, en nariz destacan las flores blancas junto con fruta tropical y sutiles notas de madera. En boca es un vino elegante, equilibrado, con una buena acidez que le aporta un frescor muy apetecible. Y a estas alturas quién puede dejar pasar la oportunidad de probar el único vino blanco de Álvaro Palacios, el vino que, de alguna manera, cierra un círculo; el origen de todo.

Plácet De Valtomelloso 2019 is a Viura single-varietal from the Paraje de Valtomelloso vineyard, at an altitude of 550 meters, with a calcareous, ferrous clay soil and with boulders. The grapes are partially de-stemmed, crushed and pressed, and the must is fermented with indigenous yeast in oval wooden foudres at low temperature, and the wine for 12 months in the foudres.
With a straw yellow color, on the nose the white flowers stand out along with tropical fruit and subtle notes of wood. On the palate it’s an elegant, balanced wine, with good acidity that gives it a very appetizing freshness. And at this point who can miss the opportunity to taste the only white wine from Álvaro Palacios, the wine that somehow closes a circle; the origin of everything.
