Tierra, coros de chicharras, el sol en las alturas. Tierra, matalahúva, pinares, monte bajo. Tierra, conchas de caracoles, ríos secos. Tierra, calma chicha. Tierra, tierra y tierra. Si hay un vino que plasme a cada sorbo el terruño de ese interior costero equidistante del Mediterráneo y de las serranías, ese terruño en el que el sol taladra tu cabeza mientras las cigarras taladran tus oídos, ése es Partal Vino de Autor 2006.
Partal Vino de Autor es tierra en su expresión más pura y a la vez más amable. Es un vino sin prisa, que ha estado durmiendo en la bodega casi 15 años. En Bodega Balcona decidieron crearlo inspirados por Josep Lluís Pérez Verdú, el padre de ese Clos Martinet que es para muchos un punto y aparte en la historia de los vinos del Priorato. De esa conexión Bullas-Priorato nace este Partal, este auténtico homenaje a la tierra elaborado con Monastrell (50 %), Syrah (25 %), Tempranillo (10 %), Cabernet Sauvignon (10 %) y Merlot (5 %) de vendimia manual, variedades que fermentaron independientemente y envejecieron también por separado durante 12 meses en barricas de roble francés de Allier antes de ensamblarse y pasar a la botella para descansar durante muchos años.
Y ¿qué es lo que encontramos cuando descorchamos este vino de guarda tres lustros después de su vendimia? En primer lugar, nos sorprende su corcho, íntegro, sin apenas rastro de vino en sus paredes. A continuación, el halo teja confirma una clara evolución en un vino que conserva un color rojo picota. Tras oxigenarlo levemente, aparecen los aromas primarios de una fruta roja que se entremezclan con aromas de cuero, tierra y hojas secas. Es una nariz que nos sugiere otoño, una nariz que acompaña a una boca en cuyo ataque manda la acidez, muy agradable, que enseguida se aparta y deja paso a aromas de crianza en botella, caramelo tostado, champiñón y un posgusto a tierra, persistente, con taninos pulidos, muy pulidos; un posgusto a tierra que plasma a cada sorbo el terruño de ese interior costero equidistante del Mediterráneo y de las serranías.

If there’s a wine that catches sip by sip the terroir of that coastal interior equidistant from the Mediterranean and the mountains, that terroir in which the sun drills your head while the cicadas drills your ears, this is Partal Vino de Autor 2006.
Partal Vino de Autor is earth in its purest and most friendly expression. It’s a leisurely wine, which has been sleeping in the cellar for almost 15 years. At Bodega Balcona they decided to create it inspired by Josep Lluís Pérez Verdú, the father of that Clos Martinet that is for many a rupture point in the history of Priorat wines. This Partal is born from that Bullas-Priorat connection, this authentic tribute to the land made with Mourvèdre (50%), Syrah (25%), Tempranillo (10%), Cabernet Sauvignon (10%) and Merlot (5%), hand harvested varieties that fermented independently and also aged separately for 12 months in Allier French oak barrels before being assembled and put in the bottle to rest for many years.
And what do we find when we uncork this aging wine three decades after its harvest? In the first place, we are surprised by its full cork, with hardly any trace of wine on its walls. Next, the tile rim confirms a clear evolution in a wine that retains a cherry red color. After slightly oxygenation, the primary aromas of red fruit appear, with other aromas of leather, earth and dry leaves. It’s a nose that suggests autumn, a nose that accompanies a palate in whose attack the acidity commands, very pleasant, which immediately moves away and gives way to aromas of aging in the bottle, toasted caramel, mushrooms and an earthy, persistent aftertaste, with very polished tannins, an earthy aftertaste that captures the terroir of that coastal interior equidistant from the Mediterranean and the mountains sip by sip.
