Honorio Rubio es un elaborador riojano con una larga tradición familiar. Aparte de sus vinos más clásicos, este productor dispone de una línea menos convencional en la que se encuadra nuestro protagonista de hoy.
Honorio Rubio Lías Finas Edición Limitada 2015 es un monovarietal de Viura que fermenta en frío en cubas de acero inoxidable, pasa a barrica de roble francés para criarse sobre sus lías durante seis meses y, finalmente, vuelve al depósito de acero para descansar sobre sus lías finas durante diez meses más. Tras ser embotellado, permanecerá al menos cinco meses en bodega antes de comercializarse.
De entrada, su intenso color resulta llamativo. En nariz encontramos fruta blanca (manzana y pera), con notas dulces al oxigenarse. Su boca es sencilla. Destaca por su textura grasa y sedosa, con presencia de cítricos y un agradable amargor que hace que el final del trago sea especialmente placentero.
Se trata de un ejemplo más de lo interesantes que pueden llegar a ser los vinos blancos de Rioja, frecuentemente eclipsados por sus hermanos tintos.

Honorio Rubio Lías Finas Edición Limitada 2015 is a Viura single varietal cold fermented in stainless steel vats, then it goes into French oak barrels to age on its lees for six months, and finally returns to the steel tank to rest on its fine lees for another ten months. After being bottomed, it will remain at least five months in the cellar before being sold.
Initially, its intense color is striking. On the nose we find white fruit (apple and pear), with sweet notes that appear when it’s oxygenated. Its palate is simple. It stands out for its glyceric and silky texture, with the presence of citrus fruits and a pleasant bitterness that makes the end of the sip especially pleasant.
This is another example of how interesting Rioja white wines can be, often eclipsed by their red brothers.
