Enate Chardonnay-234 2020

The Enate valley, close to the winery that have its name, houses the plot 234, a fresh, deep and ventilated land, with loamy-sandy soils, thermal contrast and a climate in which the proximity of the Pyrenees leave its influence. And it’s precisely in that plot 234 where grows the Chardonnay grape with which our daily protagonist is made: Enate Chardonnay-234 2020.
Just released on the market, this new vintage promises to be one of the best of this wine, whose grapes have reached full maturity after a very rainy spring and a hot and dry summer. Harvested at the end of August, at night and mechanically, the grapes arrived at the winery and, after being destemmed, were introduced into the pneumatic press, where they underwent a skin contact maceration for five hours. After a static settling at 10 Celsius degrees that lasted 48 hours, the must fermentation began in stainless steel tanks, with selected yeasts, at a controlled temperature (16º Celsius). After fermentation, the wine was clarified with bentonite, cold stabilized (-5º Celsius) and bottled between November and December.
Enate Chardonnay-234 2020 looks in the glass with a clean lemon yellow colour with greenish reflections. In its nose, very fragrant, the aromas of fruit (peach) and floral (roses and jasmine) coexist. In the palate we find a vibrant, good intensity wine. There is not much acidity, but there is a pleasant bitter touch, a medium, easy sip, and a glyceric but not heavy body. At its price level (just nine euros), it’s not easy to find another white wine that offers what the Chardonnay from plot 234 located in the Enate valley offers.
