Setenta y dos hectáreas de viñedo que nacen en un meandro del río Ebro son el inicio de Viña Lanciano Reserva 2015, un varietal de Tempranillo (90 %) con un pequeño aporte de Graciano (8 %) y Mazuelo (2 %) escogidos entre las cepas de más de 30 años de este viñedo único.
Las uvas son vendimiadas a mano y fermentan en pequeños depósitos troncocónicos de acero inoxidable. La fermentacíon maloláctica se lleva a cabo en barricas de roble francés Troncaise, donde el vino tiene también tiene una crianza de 14 meses, seguida de otra de ocho meses en barricas de roble ruso del Caúcaso, y de al menos 20 meses más en la botella.
De un bonito color rojo picota brillante, en nariz encontramos fruta roja madura, especias y notas minerales. En boca es intenso, largo y envolvente, con unos taninos pulidos y una madera bien integrada.
Estamos ante un vino que nos lleva a ese meandro del río Ebro en el que descansan los restos del puente de Mantible, que dice la leyenda que cruzó Carlomagno, un auténtico amante del vino de cuya historia hablaremos en otra ocasión.

72 hectares of vineyards in a meander of the Ebro river are the beginning of Viña Lanciano Reserva 2015, a Tempranillo varietal (90%) with a small contribution of Graciano (8%) and Mazuelo (2%) chosen among the strains older than 30 years of this unique vineyard.
The grapes are hand harvested and fermented in small trucated conical stainless steel tanks. The malolactic fermentation takes place in Troncaise French oak barrels, where the wine is also aged for 14 months, followed by another eight months in Russian Caucasian oak barrels, and at least 20 more months in the bottle.
Of a beautiful bright cherry red color, on the nose we find ripe red fruit, spices and mineral notes. On the palate it’s intense, long and enveloping, with polished tannins and well-integrated wood.
We are in front of a wine that takes us to that meander of the Ebro river where the remains of the Mantible bridge rest, a bridge that it’s supposed that was crossed by Charlemagne, a true wine lover whose history we will talk about in another occasion.
