Fábregas es la historia de un capitán de barco de El Masnou (Barcelona) que a finales del siglo XIX decidió echar el ancla en Barbastro (Huesca). Tras la llegada de la filoxera a Francia, Barbastro era un pujante exportador de vinos, y Pedro Fábregas (el capitán de barco) pronto prosperó.
Las siguientes generaciones de los Fábregas dan para escribir una novela, con un Fábregas muerto en la Guerra Civil, una viuda que se pone al frente de un negocio «de hombres» en los años 50 del pasado siglo…
Así que aquí tenemos una bodega rebosante de historia, dirigida hoy por la cuarta y la quinta generación de Fábregas, una bodega que elabora una colección de interesantes monovarietales.
Garnacha Blanca 2017 es uno de ellos, un blanco fermentado en barrica con ocho meses de crianza en barricas de roble francés que ofrece una nariz limpia, con aromas de fruta blanca y flores (geranio). Es fresco, seco y conserva una buena acidez, por lo que sirve tanto para refrescarse como para acompañar una comida sin venirse abajo.
Y, de alguna forma, cuando lo saboreas entiendes que quienes lo elaboran quieran destacar el apellido Fábregas con esa enorme «F» en la etiqueta.

Fábregas is the story of a ship captain who in the late 19th century decided to anchor in Barbastro (Huesca). After the arrival of phylloxera in France, Barbastro was a thriving wine exporter, and Pedro Fábregas (the ship captain) soon prospered.
The story behind the following generations of the Fabregas family deserve a novel, with a Fabregas killed in the Civil War, a widow who heads a «men’s business» in the 50s …
So here we have a winery full of history, run today by the fourth and fifth generation of Fábregas.
Garnacha Blanca 2017 is a single-varietal of this rare grape, a white wine fermented in barrel with eight months of aging in French oak barrels that offers a clean nose, with aromas of white fruit and flowers (geranium). It’s fresh, dry and retains good acidity, so it serves both as a refreshment and to pair a meal without falling apart.
And, somehow, when you taste it, you understand that those who make this wine want to highlight the Fabregas surname with that huge «F» on the label.
