En la provincia de Soria, a unos 1.000 metros de altitud, cerca del nacimiento del río Duero, se encuentra el valle de Atauta. Allí, lejos de todo, en una tierra congelada en el tiempo, la vid se lleva cultivando desde hace más de cinco siglos. Y allí es donde se encuentran las 25 viñas de entre 120 y 160 años de edad que, vinificadas por separado, darán lugar a Dominio De Atauta 2016.
Hablamos de un monovarietal de Tempranillo que fermenta en tinos de madera y depositos de hormigón y hace una crianza de 16 meses en barricas de roble francés (20 % nuevas y 80 % de segundo y tercer uso).
Este vino de Dominio de Atauta se presenta con un color rojo rubí y una nariz un tanto sorprendente, en la que la fruta roja (frambuesa) manda, presentándonos un vino goloso que aparenta ser más joven de lo que es. Pero en boca el «engaño» se esfuma al primer sorbo. Su complejidad, su equilibrio, una gran estructura, una buena acidez y una fruta ahora más madura que en nariz ponen de manifiesto cómo la barrica y la botella han redondeado un vino delicioso que nos habla de Atauta, de un valle solitario, de una tierra olvidada congelada en el tiempo.

In the province of Soria, about 1,000 meters above sea level, near the source of the Duero River, is the Atauta Valley. There, far from everything, in a land frozen in time, vines have been cultivated for more than five centuries. And that’s where the 25 plots between 120 and 160 years old are found, which, vinified separately, will give rise to Dominio De Atauta 2016.
We are talking about a Tempranillo single-varietal that ferments in wooden vats and concrete tanks and ages for 16 months in French oak barrels (20% new and 80% second and third use).
This Dominio de Atauta wine shows a ruby red color and a surprising nose, in which the red fruit (raspberry) rules, with a gourmand taste that makes the wine feel younger than it is. But in the palate the «cheating» disappears at the first sip. Its complexity, its balance, a great structure, a good acidity and a more mature fruit show how the barrel and the bottle have finished a delicious wine that tells us about Atauta.
