En La Seca (Valladolid), más concretamente en el paraje de Cantarranas, empieza la historia de Barco del Corneta, la bodega en la que Beatriz Arranz y Félix Crespo elaboran unos vinos auténticos, unos vinos en los que la uva y el terruño son lo que realmente importa.
Barco del Corneta 2017 es monovarietal de Verdejo plantado sobre arenas silíceas y cantos rodados a 718 metros de altitud. Las uvas maceran entre 12 y 24 horas, se prensan con raspón y se deja que el mosto decante naturalmente durante 24 horas. El mosto fermenta con levaduras autóctonas en barricas de roble en las que el vino tiene una crianza sobre lías de nueve meses.
De un color amarillo intenso con reflejos dorados, es un vino profundamente varietal, sin notas tropicales o de madera, pese a que fermenta y se cría en ella. En boca es elegante y equilibrado, con una madera muy bien integrada y un paso amplio y sedoso. Aparte de tratarse de uno de nuestros verdejos favoritos, es el perfecto embajador de una uva habitualmente camuflada por elaboraciones que esconden su identidad varietal.

In La Seca (Valladolid), more specifically in the Cantarranas area, is where the story of Barco del Corneta begins, the winery in which Beatriz Arranz and Félix Crespo make authentic wines, wines in which the grape and the terroir are what really matters. Barco del Corneta 2017 is a Verdejo single-varietal planted on siliceous sands and boulders soils at 718 meters altitude. The grapes macerate between 12 and 24 hours, are pressed with the whole cluster and the must is decanted naturally for 24 hours. The must is fermented with native yeasts in oak barrels in which the wine is aged on its lees for nine months.
With an intense yellow color with golden reflections, it’s a deeply varietal wine, without tropical or woody notes, despite the fact that it ferments and is aged on it. On the palate it is elegant and balanced, with a very well integrated wood and a wide and silky mid palate. Apart from being one of our favorite Verdejos, it’s the perfect ambassador for a grape that is usually camouflaged by elaborations that hide its varietal identity.
